Hey Sam. This was a great story. I loved it. You sure caught the feeling of 
being in the woods at night when you're not being quite ready for it. I 
remember that feeling from a camping trip when my brother and I got caught 
out--and we were even on a trail.

All these stories make me wonder how many of us got committed to hiking 
because we were able to wander when we were kids. I didn't have a big forest, 
but the area right beyond our residential area was not developed when we 
moved there. There were plenty of woods to roam in, and me and the dog were 
out there all the time in the summer. Just exploring. Just being there. No 
purpose except to wander around.
