[at-l] dog hike question

on my last at hike- which was about a week long, my 50 lb hound dog wore
her pack as always, but across her chest, where the strap goes, it
rubbed her fur out, it is slowly growing back. since we are going out
again in 3 weeks, any suggestions so that i dont end up with a "bald"
doggie? thanks jim
