I just realized that I posted the other day before I properly introduced
myself to everyone. Sorry about that.
My name is Steve, I am 25 and I currently live in Jacksonville Beach, FL. I
am planning on hiking the AT in '01. About a year ago, I finished my
undergradute degree, and have been working for Mayo Clinic ever since. In
this year, I have come all to aware that I don't like working in health care.
Sick people just aren't my forte. Plus nobody likes being told that they
need to watch their salt/cholesterol/fat intake when they have been eating
that all of their lives. So have have decided to make a career move.
I am returning to school to get my Master's in food microbiology. I will be
taking classes in Athens, GA for eight months then I will move on to Griffin,
GA to do research until I am done with my degree.
I used to do a lot of hiking and camping before I went to college, but I have
taken a hiatus as of late. Now I am really aching to get back into it.
Since I will be so close Springer, I will have the opportunity to ease back
into it before I start my long walk. I have learned a lot from the posts,
but I felt that it is time to stop lurking, and try and contribute what I can
to this list.
Steve
