[at-l] 2000 ( long)
Well guys,
For those who don't know, I was planning on thruhiking when I retired from
work. I work for a company who offers retirement at 55 with benefits and an
income. I only had 12 years to go. Last January, I got transferred to another
department and I just hate my job. The vice-president of my company said it
was for my future and urged me to go claiming money and promotions etc. He
got fired soon after that.
Any ways, here I am going to a job I hate day after day with this huge
trafffic jam. Somedays I am on the road just getting to the new location for
3 hours total both ways. I will not move to Baltimore. I have to see the
mountains. The other day, without my VP buddy, the big shots cornered me and
told me that they wished I hadn't been sent there either. Nothing like being
in a room with a bunch of men telling me I am an asshole for not thinking
like they do.
So my job is shot. I don't want to look for another one. So plans have
changed. Looks like I am hiking in spring 2000. I have spent the last 2 years
getting Slyman ready to hike and I think next year, we will just get us both
ready to hike and close things down here. When the hike is over, we will just
look for another way to continue our lives.....
My plans are to start north of Georgia ( I have already done Georgia) and to
hike north. My intentions are to skip a lot of the AT around here and take
the Tuscarora Trail into PA and then move up.
I have a huge credit card bill to get down and savings need to be done. I
think this is doable though. I don't need to buy any gear. My mother has
moved closer to me and may be willing to store some stuff and my friends
think I should go.
