What a wonderful time, thanks for sharing it. I am new to the list and 
enjoyed reading your hiking adventures back East; I live in Denver, CO.  
Prior to moving to Denver in Dec '94, I lived in Nashville for 7 years and  
spent many joyous days in the Smokies and SW VA on the AT and throughout the 
mountains.

I'm with you regarding Helen. My parents are big Volksmarchers (currently 
spending 46 days in Europe walking) and enjoy the German atmosphere there. I 
see tourist trap written all over it (like Gatlinburg, TN; Camden, ME; Aspen, 
CO). I'll stay on the trail, thank you.

I am planning for my hike-thru of the AT to start in April 2005, 8 months 
after I take an early retirement.
