This is a bit late because I was away for the weekend but I have
Irish/Scots skin that's very, very white and burns easily.  The best things
for sunburn are either (1) used tea bags because of the tannin or (2) white
vinegar (just the regular kind you get in the grocery store).  If you use
the vinegar, you smell like a salad, but it removes the sting and the heat
from your skin and most of the time I don't peel anymore either!  I know
it's a bit late for this sunburn, but in the future I recommend you try it.
I got this advice about 10 years ago, from someone who'd moved from MA to
FL and I've used the vinegar ever since.  It's great!  (I've found that
things like lotions and gels seem to seal the heat into my skin).  Hope
