I don't like velcro on sandals. doesn't feel secure, and the velcro on my
old Tevas gave up after a year. Chacos use a ladderlock. I've never seen
or
heard of a ladderlock breaking.

Had a bad experience with my last pair - Chacos are definitely the way to
go.

Chaco soles are nice and thick. Awesome arch support and contoured footbed.

Chacos use a single 1" piece of webbing wrapping around the foot (going
under the footbed) and a ladderlock. You can adjust these and yank them
down so it's way more secure than I could ever get a pair of Tevas. This
means no annoying plastic triangles - they got me too. The ladderlock lays
on the outside top of the foot just forward of the ankle, and hasn't
bothered me. Chacos have a resoleable Vibram sole. It's not too
aggressive, but hey, these are sandals. They run about as much as high end
Tevas, but will seriously be the last pair of sandals you need to buy. Last
time i saw him, "Walking Man" of '97 had done the first 500 miles of the AT
with them.
Not too shabby for a pair of sandals.

Miles of Smiles,
