[at-l] My Weekend Hike

This weekend I led an official backpack with my hiking club which gave me a
legitimate reason for being on the AT! We originally planned on hiking from
Dick's Creek to Deep Gap, but when we heard that 30 boy scouts had preceeded
us we decided to head north for Plumorchard. There were about 30 hikers
there; among them were Duffbuster (96), Lone Wolf (4X thru hiker), Pirate, who
was gathering data for the ATC, and Mara, one of our atml-er's. She is a
strong hiker and knows how to be in the woods. She showed me her tent. I
love it!

Two people tried popping jiffy-pop that evening. What a hoot! The long and
short was that neither pan was able to be eaten. I think the joke goes...how
many thru hikers does it take to pop Jiffy Pop? I can't give the answer
because I don't consider it printable, but we howled watching everyone taking
their turn at either cooking it, or giving advice.

Coming out we were treated to trail magic by some 97ers. Baltimore Jack was
there. I knew he was on the trail and was glad to see him. And I finally met
Bjourn! I really liked him, too. He's a big, jolly fellow.

We had three inches of snow on the ground, but moderate temperatures, so it
was a nice hike. Gutsy
