Beau-
What model stove do you use? Would you recommend it. Trying to keep my
luxuriant facial hair away from the Wisperlight...
Cosmo,
The Model 2270 Primus butane stove (71/2-oz) is what I have. It was
marketed by Century Primus. Primus has ended their relationship with
Century and it is no longer available from Primus. There is no difference
between this stove and the current Primus butane. I paid $11.95 for mine
and Chase paid $16.95. Both stoves came from AMES Department store about
two years ago. Chase bought his in Barrington, MA. Just down the road from
you. I like mine. Just turn the knob on and light the butane/propane mix.
I like that both Coleman and Primus have the same screw on fittings for
their canisters. Wal-Mart has the fuel but some times they have to order it
from the warehouse. REI last year had a great special price offer. Check
out other stores. The outdoor shops are very high priced. Chase might be
able to add in how he likes his. The only reason its not going to be my
pack stove for the next three seasons is the weight. I'm going to try using
an alcohol stove. It's a weight issue. My MSR multi fuel is my cold
weather stove. I bought my first Primus in 1964 and it still works and you
can find parts for it. I use to get kicked out of shelters back in the
sixties and seventies because of the stove noise. If the list was available
back then us listers would have a flame war over stoves vs wood fires.

Take care...
