Some items I include (in the kit)

Sugar packet  (for diabetics)
pencil & paper (If one person stays with victim, another can take written
symptoms  
                       when going for assistance)
occlusive dressings (for stove flareup burns)


Remember:

a headlamp is useful as a lighting choice. (most injuries occur at night or
near sunset, difficult to treat injuries when trying to hold light source)

Small square foam pad.  (treatment for shock)

Carry bandanas,  Great for cravats, as well as triangular bandages.
