[at-l] For 99'ers Who are Leave Taking

Well, kiddos, lots of you are starting on the trail very soon. I'd list the
names I know, but I'd leave someone off and feel bad, so let's just say that
you know who you are. If you don't, well that's a pretty weighty
psychological thing I don't feel equiped to deal with right now...

But anyway, I just wanted all of you to know that, although I won't be
starting for a few weeks, I'll be thinking of y'all and wishing for good
weather. Hike well, my friends. Hike strong. Take care of one another.
Smile a lot, say "please" and "thank-you", and when you are cold and wet,
remember that those of us still at home care about that and are whispering
to you, "the sun will shine soon". Recall as often as necessary that you
dreamed of this for a long, long time, and even if those reasons seem
insignificant at the time, remember how very important they were to you for
months and months and months.

I hope to see you on the trail, but if I don't, I hope I'll see you at a
Gathering, a Ruck, or back here in the fall.

Lucian ("Bristlecone")
