RE: [at-l] Guys in skirts...

Hunting Stewart is the "traditional" if all else fails wear this tartan. That being said, almost all tartans were invented by 19th century commercial weavers and many have been associated with several different clans. Soooo, if you like the looks of it, wear it and claim your great grandmother was a ........ .

Based on 20 years of pipe band competitions, kilts and good knit wool hose(not cheap knock offs found at highland games) are cool in summer ('cept maybe around the waist) and toasty warm in winter. (To return to the "trail related") Kilts are probably not a good backpacking alternative. They're heavy, 7 to 9 yards of heavy weight wool, folks. They attract dust, burrs, twigs, small rodents (never seen a ferret thought) and their construction is such that you'd never notice the stuff had climbed on...there you go down the trail, four pounds of wool, eight pounds of trail...smelling like a sheep (DON'T GO THERE, I know badder sheep jokes than you do.)
