It is still possible to get some solitude on the AT.
if you are thru-hiking, start early in the season. (But, even that is
starting to change, more and more people are starting in early March)

But the best way to get solitude to camp away from the shelters.
Also, get up early. Combine that with an isolated tent spot, and you
will be amazed at how many hours in th day you will go w/o seeing people.
part of New Hampshire or Maine, and see hordes of people. But you can
get solitude if you work at it.

Mags....really exhausted after the elevation gain of..oh...200'.
