Mount Mitchell at 6684' is the highest peak east of the Mississippi River.
It is followed by Mt. Craig (on the same quad map as Mitchell), and
Clingman's Dome at 6643' which is on the trail.

To "bag" as many peaks as you want, try
http://mapping.usgs.gov/www/gnis/gnisform.html. Use "summit" for the feature
name and give an elevation and a state. It will give you all of the summits
above that elevation.
