Re: [at-l] stoves, again

Two years ago I purchased a cosmetically perfect coleman lantern, and
found out that the thing was built in 1961. It was full of rust in the
tank and inner ways, and all rubber and leather(!) parts were dried
out and leaking. BUT! The thing was made for easy maintenance, and I
discombobulated the entire thing, cleaned what needed cleaning,
replaced non-metalic parts, and fired that mother up. Worked perfect.
(On auto regular unleaded, BTW) Thanks to a good company design/parts
availability policy, and even finding a local retailer (small
bait/tackle shop) to supply most parts, I was able to refit this fine
and essentially unchanged product. So Fear Not, as far as refitment
goes. With the Peak1, I think you're trading off wonderful flame
control for tremendous weight. Buuuuuut, YMMV.

BTW, left this lantern out on a lantern pole at a Cosby CampGround
(Smokies) campsite to an overnight with our (then three year old)
kids. Came down the next day, after dark, to find the lantern stolen.
Purchased another one, and have yet to fire it up!

My dad, knowing I was looking for a stove, saw one at a garage sale and bought
it for me. It is a coleman, and I dont recall the model number, but it is the
"roll down the hill type" (looks like a peak one) well I went to try and
light it, and for some reason gas sprayed out between the canister and the
top(not in the priming bowl) is this something that I could fix, a O ring?
although its a little heavy, the stove was free. also, does anyone use a
coleman????? I went to the best outfitter in town, and they had no
maintenance kits for coleman stoves.
