I have used an MSR, XGK stove on three thru-hikes of the AT. It works all the
time. White gas can be found anywhere, can even get as little, as few oz., if
need be. It will boil a quart of water in 4 to 5 min. The only maintenance I
have had to do on it was clean the jet after using unleaded auto gas.

The only fuel that is readily available near the AT is white gas, AKA Coleman
fuel.
