Hi Paddybeer, Bear Bells here http://www.backcountry.net/wareagle/tnk.html

Here's a couple of methods that work to make lighting your esbit easier.

One. use MRE fuel bars. Only a pinch is needed.

1. Get a glad bag.
2. Get some toluene tablets or bars. ( Used for MREs )
3. Smash'em into little pieces but don't have to be even. One can use
something to score them. One bar will work for many fires and its fuel too.
4. I put one tiny piece by the esbit fuel and lite the toluene which
lites instantly and that then lights the esbit fuel. The toluene bar
can be used a campfire starter also.

Two.. If they are really frozen you can warm up a tablet in your hand or inside
your jacket. Use that excess body heat :)

Three
. Carry a tiny bottle of alcohol or other fluid that lights fast
and squit a drop or two on the esbit.

Four. A butane cigar lighter works well also. Has a long nozzle.

Take your pick,
