I met Bill Irwin in 1990 while I was day hiking in the Smokies.  I can credit
him for starting the flaming (the right kind of flame)  desire to thru hike.
Let's see, has it really been almost 9 years since I got an inkling that I
would like to thru hike?  I only have to wait another 5 years?  How about
that, I am more than halfway there!  hmmmm...... the waiting still it rough.
Thank goodness for section hiking.
