I'm looking at the Cheaper than Dirt catalog and the stove is engraved with
the Esbit name.

You may
want to check it out. It looks a lot like the Esbit Stove cept the
Esbit has
more holes in the bottom.
I have one of these stoves. It is made of tin instead of stamped
steel, so
it is not as sturdy, but should support a small pot. It is about the
size of
a pack of playing cards; fits easily in a shirt pocket. It does not
have the
stops that allow it to be set at an angle; only works fully open.
As for the Esbit bulk ordering, I've noticed that many of the local
Army
surplus stores are stocking Esbit stove knock-offs that are made in
China.
They are stamped steel like the Esbit and sell for about $5 locally
in
Tennessee.
One thing I do not like about the Esbit design is the toothed
cut-outs along
the pot support edges. My Army canteen cup does not sit on this
design very
well.
The current Scouting catalog offers an Esbit knock-off that has no
cut-outs
along the pot support edges for $6.25. Looks like a nice design. I
haven't
bought one yet. Their number is 800 323-0732, item number V01032.
