[at-l] Propane/Butane Stove and Esbit Stove

I played with both of my stoves today,,,now I have to make a decision as to which one
to bring on my thru hike. I took my Esbit stove outside, it was 20 degrees, I cooked a
package of Lipton Rice,,,,mmmm good! I used the entire tab and it took 11 minutes. I
tried to boil 3 cups of water but it never came to a roaring boil (not that that is
important) but it did that little "boil," just barely bubbling. I burned a canister of
Primus propane/butane....It took 5 minutes to have 3 cups of water come to a roaring
boil. The fuel lasted for 2 hours and 20 minutes, canister was 220g/7.8 oz. That means
if I used it twice a day the fuel would last for 14 days! I also have a smaller
canister at 110g/3.5 oz that may be better suited for a thru hike. The stove for the
canisters weighs 5 oz. The stove for the Esbit weighs 3 oz. Decisions, decisions,
decisions!! OK people,,,give me some thoughts here. KC aka War Eagle
