[at-l] KC's great adventure #3

Sorry, didn't mean to keep ya hanging but I was down in the bed all day
yesterday. On with the adventure. Sunday morning we were up and about by
7:18am. We packed everything up and started to consider how we were going
to get Kia down that cliff. I finally decided that the only way he was
going down that cliff was going to be with me in the led and we would
"slide" our way to the bottom. I put his leash on him and coaxed him under
a fallen log. We then started our decent,,,,and what a decent,,,slipping,
sliding, branches breaking, leaves tumbling (or was that me tumbling?). I
ended up with a bruised and cut elbow. Kia ended up prancing and drinking
water at the bottom of the cliff,,,he didn't even get a scratch,,,and then
he wanted to follow Beth back UP the cliff,,,NO WAY! Beth went back up and
got our packs,,,,we filled our water bottles,,,went to the shelter and ate
breakfast. Off we went after breakfast to hike the trail. We came to a foot
bridge with a railing on the left hand side. I started across, Kia behind,
Beth holding his leash. We got out about 1/3 of the way and Kia decided
that this was way to scary so he jumped! Yes, he would not slide down a
cliff but he jumped 10 feet unto to the rocks below. Luckily his pack
turned him in mid air and he landed on his back(pack). His pack was filled
with dog food and it broke his fall. Needless to say, I was pretty upset.
We checked him over and he was fine. We took off his pack and I slowly led
him across the bridge. Now he wanted to go back and forth over the bridge!
By this time I started having chest pains and was wondering if my brand new
pack was the culprit. NO, it was that darn Bra...so I took it off. Within 3
hours the pain was gone. About noon is when I started to feel sick to my
stomach. I was drinking plenty of water and could not figure out what was
wrong. We finally made it to Moreland Gap Shelter at 5:15pm. I set up my
hammock and climbed in. Slept for an hour and then made supper for
Beth,,,but I just could not eat much. Kia ate like a horse! I went back to
bed and slept off and on. KC
