[at-l] Letter from Felix

I vaguely remember reading (hearing about?) a literary piece called A Letter
to Garcia in my far distant past. But even if I can't recall it, I know a
letter to Garcia, or anybody else for that matter, could bear no resemblance
whatsoever to a letter from Felix. Which, no doubt, is just as well. :-)
Sally

But anyhow-here is A Letter from Felix.

The legend lives on from the Chippewa down, of the lake they call Gitchy-
Goomy.

Hi Everybody!!! Felix J. McGillicuddy here. "Where is here?" you may
legitimately ask. No where other than Cosmo Catalano's basement. Mr. Cosmo has
very, very kindly allowed me and my three cohorts in hike (Ke Kaahawe, Stoat,
and Pokey) to shower, launderize our clothes, and watch football in his
family-room-type basement. Bandanas off to he and his family for allowing our
stench in their home.

Tomorrow we cross the 600 mile mark. Today we crossed our 3rd state line. We
are cruising along nicely. Hitching to every restuarant and diner.

Question:
If the Old Gray Goose runs wins the hghest public office in her town, will she
be the Old Gray Mayor?
	Happy Anniversary, Kate.

I found Vermont to be pretty, even though there are few views.

I also found Mike Henderson to be extremely time consuming. Every time I sit
down to write, it's "Felix, will you come play?" or "Felix, how far are we
going to hike tomorrow?" or "Felix, help me cook dinner." He's a nice guy, and
looks great wearing his sleeping bag.

It is now two days since I last wrote. We have crossed the 600 mile mark. I
also received a great care package from ssw in Cheshire. Cheshire is a
friendly town. It doesn't offer many conveniences, though the womyn at the
P.O. were the nicest postal workers we've met so far. Easily.

Trees are beautiful right now. Enjoying the semi-level woods walks after
Greylock.

This very minute, I'm laying on a large rock at the edge of Gore Pond. Blue
sky, red and yellow leaves. Beautiful day.

The primate house at the Dartmouth Petting Zoo will be closing immediately.
Unfortunately, I am mostly responsible. The administration of the zoo agreed
their signage wasn't specific enough, but, apparently, there had been some
problems in the past. So, I apologize to anyone travelling to Hanover for the
petting zoo.

Conversation of the Week:
Ke Kaahawe, Pokey and I were sitting at this bar at the whistle stop. We had
just gotten our food. The two waitresses were standing directly across the bar
from us, sharing a BLT sandwich. They were less than arm length away. This was
what I heard.

Woman 1: So what'd they give you for the pain?
Woman 2: I don't know, but they knew when I woke up. It hurt as bad as when I
had my C section.
Woman 1:	After my 2nd baby, I had my tubes tied. I wasn't going through that
				again.
Woman 2:	My Mom asked what they were giving me. When they told her, she said,
"Will that hurt the baby?" The nurse said, "She's pregnant?" They
				couldn't tell I was 8 1/2 months pregnant!!

It is now the day after I wrote this other stuff. I think it is 9/30/98. We've
now done 636 miles. We have 21.5 to do tomorrow, so I won't write much
tonight. BTW, the sign said "Don't discipline the primate."

All for now. I'll write more before Salisbury.

Well, I'm done now. Have been busy. Are at Shea's Pine Tree right now. I
promise to write more soon. Bye.

PS:	The next maildrop is DWG.
	Lurkers--Write me.
My birthday is 10/12, remember me. :-)
