The term forensic has to do with the law and courts. When most people hear
the word they think of forensic medicine which is the coroner's office.
Forensic accountants are called in in divorce cases ans other litigation. An
example would be one of the cases on my desk right now. It involves a woman
who was involved in an auto accident. Due to injuries sustained, she allegedly
could not run her business and claims to have lost money therefor. We were
called in to examine the books of the business to determine what, if any, losses
were incurred as a result of the accident. I addition to litigation support
like this, we also do insurance accounting wherein we will examine the records
of an insured after a loss such as a fire and determine the extent of the loss.

Now that you know all there is to know, this forensic accountant will return to
his study of maps to determine this weekend's destination.

Happy trails,
