Seriously: Ditto (Plus the distraction to other hikers should be
a consideration).
Humorously: Whoever hikes faster just gets to rest more, or, if
separation causes anxiety, the faster hiker could exercise a
little restraint/patience. Look around a little more maybe, or
distract themselves otherwise. Maybe by saying things like "Come
on, speed it up there, Gimpy, my grandma can hike faster than
that..." <VBG> Or "Hey, look how that next hill disappears into
the clouds wayyyy up there..." :-)
