Sounds like a great trip, Hopeful!  I have the zip off pants and swear by
them.  Make sure you get the supplex ones.  They are very light and dry in
nothing flat.  I have hiked when it is pouring out and  they still don't  feel
wet on the skin.  I hate being cold, so this way, I have a pair of slacks with
me.  I use them summer, spring and fall.  This also really helps not have to
make the decision of what to start wearing in the morning.  I hate those big
decisions when I am hiking!  Before you buy them, see if you can find the kind
that have velcrow on the bottom.  I can take the pant part off without taking
off my boots, a big plus.
