Several of the old hand holds/monkey bars are missing. Over the years cold and
heat and thousands of people were too much, and they've worked out from the
rocks. Ranger at Abol said there are no plans he knows of to replace them.
Also the AT where it crosses the Table Land to Baxter Peak is 20 feet wide in
places. Seems that people just won't stay on the trail, despite several signs
reminding them to. The Park director said at this year's meeting that he will
consider
CLOSING the AT/Hunt trail for several years to help restore the fragile and
rare alpine enviorment.
Now wouldn't THAT suck?
