[at-l] Snakes

When a snake coils and shakes its tail (most snakes do this, not just

I think someone forgot to tell the rattle snake and black snake the above
procedure. Last year while hiking in NC I nearly stepped on a rattle
snake...of course it was in the trail where I could not go up and around or
down and around it. To make a long story short...it took us 45 minutes to
get that snake to move so that we could pass. Last month while hiking in SC
we were setting up camp...there was a big ole black snake..when we fist saw
it it was 4 feet long...when we got home it was 6..lol....anyway we went
about our business of setting up camp and it moved over to the fire
pit...my friend wanted to set up the "kitchen" so she asked me to move it.
I took my hiking sticks and tapped them together, then stomped on the
ground...it looked at me like I was crazy...it proceeded to come towards
me...yes towards me and when I tried to stand my ground it reared up it's
head...I decided that it could have the fire pit if it wanted the fire
pit..after awhile it finally moved on...but that night while in my hammock
I wondered if it was under me? KC
