I used the Osprey Finesse on my thru hike.  I'm 5' 7" so while I'm not
big, I'm not exactly small.   When I had more than would fit in my pack
(for longer stretches) I would hang stuff outside.  That kept the
packsize down.  Less, in backpacking, is definitely more comfortable.
