[at-l] Washing wool
Slg:
I deleted your message by mistake so couldn't reply to you personally.
Wool is easily washed with Woolite or even dishsoap (not regular soap,
however..wrong ph), but I didn't wash my sweater at all on my through
hike. Wool has a great way of shedding dirt and not retaining odors, so
I didn't need to.
To prove that my sweater was not disgusting at the end, I will tell you
what happened to my sweater. I lost my sweater on some mountain in
Maine. I let some section hiker know I'd lost it. Somehow Crazy Toes (a
thru hiker) retrieved it but didn't have my real name or address to
contact me. His wife came to hike with him and she wore it while with
him. She told him that if he didn't find my address that she wanted to
keep it! Anyway, two months after my thru hike my sweater arrived in
the mail. I did wash it then and I'm still wearing it on the trail!
