We had a great phone call from Teresa and Daniel Beachy tonight. They
have been out on the AT for two weeks now and are still having a
terrific time. I have the first four days of Daniel's journal to
transcribe - soon, I promise. It is terrific. It is good to hear from
people who are enjoying life so much. Daniel, now known as 'Outta
Chocolate' writes a good journal. They're taking their time,
"lollygagging along", and enjoying the trail, the people and life to the
fullest. Teresa says that she gets some odd looks, and some people are
bold enough to ask "Are you really planning to thruhike in a dress?"
"Why not?" she answers. A few have asked more questions about being
Mennonite. They have run into a lot of kindness along the way. Not
organized "trail magic" but just people being good people. And a lot of
people are discovering the imagination and sense of playfulness that
Teresa and Daniel bring to this journey. I look forward to hearing the
next installment of their adventures - the AT water slide sounded like
such fun.
