[at-l] If at 1st you don't succeed....

After accepting the idea that my backpacking days are over, I made the mistake
of going camping last week. I'm totally and unequivocally hooked, and I'm
hoping to talk my old partner, Hickory, into going back out with me during Aug
& Sep. Although I had never wanted to hike the AT in sections, I'll now take
what I can get <G>. I just went out and bought a pack - a Lowe Scirocco - a
woman's pack and it fits. The minute I put it on I could tell the difference
between it and all the other packs I've tried on. Hopefully it will feel as
good after a few weeks on the trail. Now for the difficult (for me) part, and
that is to keep the entire pack weight, including food & water, to 35#. I
know I could go much lighter with a different tent, but if I take Smoky with
me I'll need the extra room and besides, I love my tent. God, what a new
lease on life!
