	Although I've never seen reference to this on the AT mailing lists, a few
years ago I was on a Trek at Philmont Scout Ranch in northern New Mexico.
All the guys who brought inflatable mattresses were out of business by the
end of the trip.  The thorns punctured all of them.  The closed cell pads
fared much better, though at the expense of having less padding.

	Of course, out here in New Mexico, the thorns are EVERYWHERE.  I even saw
one mattress punctured while hiking.

	I suspect you can get away with an inflatable much easier back east.
