[at-l] thru-hiking excitement

Hey you all asked for it so here it is:

I'm leaving in 35 days for Katadin, and starting my southbound
thru-hike 5 weeks from tomorrow and I can't wait!!  I'm driving all my
friends crazy, well except the one who's thru-hiking with me that is
:) I have 6 3/4 gallons of dehydrated veggies in my freezer and still
working on more. (My friends are beginning to complain about needing
more freezer space...) My (relatively small) room is filled with my
maildrop boxes.  With the boxes, the dehydrator, and all the gear (not
to mention books, problem sets, and notebooks from class) it's getting
pretty difficult to walk around my room :) 

I'm pretty much all ready to go, we just need to do a little more food
shopping (which we're saving until after finals are over...)  All I
need to do is keep myself from exploding between now and June 13, oh
and maybe try to find a job for when I finish my hike. I got in to
grad school and I managed to convince one of them to let me defer for
a year. Ha! I fooled them - little do they know that I really accepted
their offer of admission so that I could move to Wisconsin, get paid
to be a student, while really spending all my time section-hiking the
IAT!  (Ice Age Trail)

OK I think that's enough excitement for now....hope it wasn't too much..

On a more serious note, I have been on AT-L for almost 2 years now and
also on AT98 since last July. I enjoyed the ability to talk to other
people preparing for a 1998 thru-hike, but I know I learned a lot more
from AT-L. I also think that AT-L did lose some of the fun of last
spring when the class of 97 was getting ready to leave, but then the
list has changed a lot over the last 2 years. Anyways, this has turned
into a long post, so I'll stop inflicting you guys with my ramblings
:)
