[at-l] A.T. Speed Record Attempts
On May 9,1991 I left Springer Mtn. Georgia at 6:54 a.m. 52
days,9hrs.,and 41 min, later I touched the sign on top of Mt. Katahdin in
Maine>>>>thus far the fastest trip on the A.T.
On Saturday May 9, 1998 Andrew Thompson of Lynchburg, Va. will leave
Springer Mtn. attempting to break my record.
On June 5, 1998 Sam Swisher-McClure will be leaving Springer Mtn. with
the same goal as Andrew---breaking my record. Both of these men have a
goal of finishing in under 50 days. Andrew plans of running and walking
and using my schedule from 1991. Sam places on walking only.
Their crews will be calling in and giving us periodic updates on their
progress. We will be posting their progress, pictures, and articles on
our website as we receive it. Check updates at
