[at-l] more dehydrating

I keep hearing all this stuff about dehydrating and all so here is another
question -- can you dehydrate food without an acutal dehydrator?  Can you
use your oven and how would you do so? 

On a completely different note -- how bad are the bugs in Vermont and NH
during late july and early august?  DO i need to bring an extra pint of
blood with me for the transfusions or will some simple bug repelent suffice
by then?
