Hard to believe, but it is true. I tested it myself.

It would work, although for journal writing I would suggest the yellow,
since it is a little easier to read by the yellow light. The blue,
white, and turquoise would be great for journal writing since they are
so bright, but the battery life is much shorter (12-14 hours).

The truth is, any Photon light will get the job done, however some
colors have advantages in one area or another.

REI is the only national chain I know of that carries the Photon lights,
but they only carry the Photon I. Of course, I prefer you buy from me
(Ok, I'm slightly biased), but you can also find the Photon lights in LL
Bean and The Edge Company catalogs.

I would be happy to answer any further questions.
