The white Photon II has enough light to read, or to show a few feet of
trail at night. The yellow one (I) hasn't had a trail workout yet, but I
suspect it would also do the same. The white (II) has an on/off switch
(in adddition to the squeeze-on which the originals (I) have) and is not
field-maintainable unless you want to carry a size-aught phillips-head
screwdriver and mess with the TINY parts inside. The squeeze-on type just
pops open. Both run on flat round lithium batteries, and ARE NOT water-
proof. They are very small, thus extremely light-weight (oz. or less?).
If you look at the testimonials on the web site, some of them would lead
you to think they're waterproof, but I can tell you from personal experi-
ence (and the mfr's. letter to me) that they are not. If you want to
use them in the rain/mist, put them inside a ziploc--they'll shine
through the plastic. -- Earthworm
