now weighs almost the same as the one that takes AAA batteries. Basically,
I drilled a few holes through it. Most of the weight being in the "lens
assembly".
I'm not really sure I'm finished -- the next thing I may try is turning
down the body in a lathe and see what happens. <<<
as wildbill said, the flashlight is no longer waterproof. my first thought
was "why bother with an expensive maglight, just get a cheaper, lighter
plastic flashlight?" then i reconsidered. waterproofness is only one of
the benefits of a maglight. others are durability and reliability. even
with a bunch of holes in it and a lathed-down barrel, this is still
probably a better working flashlight than most others, waterproofness
notwithstanding. still, that's a lot of work :).
if you're looking for light weight, try those little diode flashlights that
keep popping up on this list. i've seen 'em, and they look good. who here
has firsthand experience? raven?
