Tim,  I wore the Adidas version of those flip-flop-type sandals on my
'97 hike, and was very satisifed with them.  You're right, you wouldn't
want to hike in them, but they're passable for the few remaining river
crossings that require getting wet feet.  They're pretty comfy, and mine
lasted me the whole trip and I still wear 'em quite a bit (tho not as
much as my heftier Birkenstocks).  One bonus, at least of the Adidas
version, is that they float - not something you'd notice unless you...
well that's another story.  ;-)
