[at-l] Hiking w/ dogs

There are tons of advice to be offered in regard to hiking with dogs,
especially long-distance hiking. The best advice that I can give is to
be sure that your dog "has its hand raised" to hike. That is, make sure
that your dog actually enjoys long hikes/overnighters as much as you do.
There are lots of dogs that will follow you "anywhere." However, there
aren't nearly as many dogs who have the physical and mental stamina to
hike long distances. These are the ones that so many other
non-dog-hiking hikers complain about. Aside, of course, from the dogs
without obedience training and the ones that are allowed to run
off-leash.
