[at-l] We're in Virginia!!!!

We arrived in Damascus, VA at 9:30 a.m. today! We managed to hike our 
longest day so far yesterday, a whopping 16.3 miles! :-) We and our 
shelter-mates awoke to mice scurrying around at 4 a.m. this morning, and 
Ron and I were on our way into town by 5:30 a.m. - we hiked by headlamp 
(along with the other 3 from the shelter) and watched the sunrise from 
the ridgeline. Beautiful!!! We made it the 10 miles into Damascus in 4 
hours even, a speed record for us turtles! Our first item on the agenda 
was FOOD!!!! We ate, picked up our 5 boxes from the post office and 
checked into "The Place" which is a hiker hostel here in town. Lots of 
people who passed us in the past few days are still here in town, 
nursing sore feet and knees. We're feeling pretty good actually. My 
poison oak on my feet has cleared up, so no more blisters to contend 
with. My knee problem seems to be gone at this time other than 
occasional "twinges" on the downhill slopes. Weather has been good and 
bad - hot sunny days and pouring rain. We'd love to get more letters 
from friends at our maildrops, as it's hard to get internet time here at 
the library and we can't read them all when we're in town. We are about 
11 days behind our maildrop "schedule" so you can send letters according 
to our actual schedule instead of the maildrop list dates. Hope 
everyone's doing well and enjoying reading about our hike.
