Wrong, based on what has been happening in recent years. I have heard a
very high number of thru-hikers say specifically that the reason they were
going to Trail Days in Damascus was to get drunk. I have heard more and
more complaints about the level of excessive drinking at that event. Most
of the major problems perceived by the townspeople of Damascus involve
alcohol. We just want to have a little more of a Trail focused event here
in Hot Springs (like the first Trail Days that I help start 12 years ago).
If the MAIN reason you are coming to Hot Springs and Trailfest is to drink
beer and get drunk, stay home. If you keep to moderation, and obey the
town's (not my) open container law, then you should have no problems.--WF
