Try using a mesh onion bag from the produce department in your local grocery
store.  The mesh is really tough, weighs next to nothing, and is open enough
that food particles don't stick in it.  Just give it a shake when finished
with it, and it's dry almost immediately.  Best of all, they throw these
things away daily, so it's FREE, too.
