Ticks will usually attach themselves below knee level (exception, when
you're sitting down) so shorts and gaters are one solution in warm weather.
Also in order to infect you with Lyme Disease they have lay their eggs
under your skin. That doesn't happen for several hours. If you carefully
check yourself for ticks and remove them every evening you will
dramatically reduce the chance of contracting Lyme Disease. If you are
hiking with a partner you can check each other. If alone, take a small
pocket mirror for checking places that are hard to see on one's self.
