My friends who have had the industrial strength GI stuff believe that it was
caused by person to person contact or direct contact when swimming, washing
up, rinsing bandanas in a stream etc. Their usage of a filter, chemical
treatment or nothing at all was evenly split. It would be interesting to see
a large scale study on this. Or maybe this is just another feeble attempt by
us humans to make life free of risks.
