Hi. I guess it's time to stop lurking and introduce myself. My name is Paul Furnas (aka Pilgrim) and I have been a subscriber to this list since Nov. 1996. At that time I lived in Parkland, Fl. and yearned to be in the mountains. Last September we moved to Dahlonega, GA. and are just a stones throw from Springer (really about 12 miles). Was up there two weeks ago, it was sunny, 45degrees with wind gusts to approx. 25 mph. I have section hiked all of SNP, much of NC and MD and some of PA, GA, VT, & NH over the last 30 years. My 14 year old son Caleb (aka Hawkeye) promises me that we will someday do our thru hike. A dream of mine for all these years. . . Guess I'm getting closer to my dream.
