[at-l] Photon Micro-Light followup

Back in Nov. 1997 I posted a message about a problem I had with a brand-
new Micro-Light: it turned on all by itself and I couldn't turn it off,
so it burned itself out. It was one of the new ones with an on-off
switch, and put together with size aught philips-head screws.

I sent it back to the company (L.R.I.) and had a very nice response.
This was back in December, and I apologize for not getting this follow-
up posted on the list sooner.

I had attempted to fix it myself once I got home and could find a TINY
screwdriver. But after I got it apart the pieces were so small and the
way they had to be put back together was so intricate that my arthritic
fingers could not do the job. Very frustrating. So I sent it back in pieces
and asked for the other (squeeze) type as a replacement, since I believed
it would be more easlily field-maintained, at least by _me_. :)

Well, they sent back the light, re-assembled and with new batteries, AND
a new squeeze-type one ALSO. Apparently the problem with mine was that
the heavy fog at night (or maybe it was low clouds) had wet the light
sufficiently to short out the batteries. I was given some suggestions
to prevent the light from getting that wet, and told how to swing the
light around to spin out the water if it should get wet again. So I
think that was a very nice response, and they really went above what
I asked for. So now I keep the white light with the on/off switch where
it can't possibly get wet, and the yellow squeeze light will be used
outdoors, but I'll take the company's advice and put it in a ziploc and
squeeze it through the bag--the light will stay dry and the light will
just shine through the plastic bag...which is something I might have
thought of in the first place, if I had realized dampness was such a
problem. Live and learn.

Bottom line: I'm still a Photon Micro-Light fan. -- Earthworm
