[at-l] TN Trail Conditions

Hey All

Just finished what should've been a short hike out from Hampton to the
Laurel Fork Falls, even with the bridges washed out from last month's huge
flood. It was not to be. It took over an hour just to get to the shelter
(halfway there), with trees down from last week's huge snowstorm. Every
few feet I had to crawl over, under, through, or around (working on my
prepositions) fallen trees. Looks like we'll be putting in a lot of trail
maintenence hours in just to get the trail passable. I think it's much
worse than even when the remnants of the '94-'96 hurricanes went through.
Just a guess but the rest of the AT through this area may be worse, like up
on Roan Mtn.
