[at-l] Re: at-l-digest V1 #533

Good point about the glove box, but don't do what I once did on a week long
hike in the Whites. I opened the glove box, and returned to a dead
battery. You need to fashion some kind of device to assure that the switch
to your glovebox does not illuminate while you're gone. Talk about an
attention getter when your vehicle is parked in the night, and all you can
see is an "inviting glow" coming from inside your vehicle. Well, it will
only glow for a while.

Also check around for anything else that might be drawing battery power.
Always unplug those handy recharger devices from the lighter. It's
presence will indicate something of value on the other end. Even if you
don't have anything plugged into it, it is an invitation to a break-in.

A dead battery is not very inviting.

everybody be careful out there and don't leave anything you value in your

When I'm out overnight I'm careful to make my truck look as univiting as I
can. I clean it out _completely_ and throw out the trash, empty the glove
box
and leave it open and hide anything small in a zip lock bag ontop of the
spare
tire. If I'm feel really ambitious I take off the distributor and put it
on
the spare.
