April can be testy. Georgia can become early spring, ice storms, tornado
alley, and rainy. April is probably not as too early as March or
February. I plan to hit some sections then, so I am sure you will find
company.

Parking is always a problem. I suspect that the approach trail may allow
some overnight parking, but I suspect you need to consider parking in a
nearby town and getting transportation (taxi, hitching, road magic).
Have you looked at the GORP page on the transportation issues?
